Who we are
Kotzé Group is a family-owned investment group, established in 1986. We are business builders: for four decades we have developed, financed and operated real assets across South Africa, as stewards of our own capital and that of our long-standing partners.
We are both capital allocators and implementers — we manage capital, and we deploy it directly into projects we develop and operate ourselves. We take long-term positions, we operate what we own, and we measure ourselves in decades, not quarters.

Track Record
8,500+ residential units developed and delivered, including Clayville and Modderbee
250,000 m2 of industrial and commercial property
Developed Mall of Tembisa - ±43,000 m2, winner of Best Retail Development at the International Property Awards
2,000+ hectares of land holdings
Funded throughout by our own equity and South African bank debt.
What we do
We build and hold operating businesses and real assets across our sectors:
Property development
Residential, retail and industrial development through KJA Property Group: from bulk infrastructure and township establishment through to completed, income-producing assets.
Water and sewer utilities
Private water and sewage-treatment utilities serving our developments and third-party clients.
Export agriculture
Export-focused farming operations, anchored by our cherry orchards at Maloney's Eye.
Energy
Private energy infrastructure responding to South Africa's grid constraints: generation and storage for our own developments and for industrial users.
Industrial and manufacturing
Established industrial businesses built and operated for the long term, including Detroit Air, our industrial air-compressor business.
Acquisitions
Through our wholly group-funded acquisition companies, Anchorlight Capital and Allonvex, we buy and grow established businesses.
Investment office
Carnivore Capital, the group's investment office: capital allocation across the group and the home of our new-venture activity.
Garden Route property services
Our Plettenberg Bay platform: Plett Realty (residential sales and rentals, and our development partner on Plett Village Estate and Nautilus Estate), Soughted Garden Route (property and holiday-rental management) and The Station Co-Work (co-working and serviced offices).
WHERE
WE'RE GOING
A LONG-TERM PERSPECTIVE
Kotzé Group exists to build businesses that stand the test of time.
Kotzé Group is building toward an infrastructure-led future: energy, water and social infrastructure at scale. Across the group that means growing our energy generation and storage platform, expanding our water and sewer utilities, deepening our export agriculture, and continuing to acquire and build operating businesses — alongside KJA Property Group's long-term development pipeline of 135,000 living units.
We will keep doing what we have done since 1986: acting as stewards of our own capital and that of our long-standing partners — allocating it with discipline, and deploying it directly into projects we develop and operate ourselves. That combination of capital allocation and hands-on execution is rare, and it is the foundation of everything we build.

Nols Kotzé
Executive Chairman of Kotzé Group, a second-generation, family-owned South African investment group, founded in 1986.
We are asset owners and business builders. For four decades we have invested our own balance sheet, beginning in land and real estate development, and progressively building operating and investment positions across agriculture, water and sewer infrastructure, industrial businesses and energy, which is today our primary focus. We invest as principals in businesses we help build, and as LPs alongside managers we trust.
Building is what I do: businesses, companies, projects, teams. I am a disciple of the Theory of Constraints: find the bottleneck, fix it, move to the next one. It has shaped how we run everything from farms to developments to investment platforms.
I see opportunities everywhere, I just have too little time.
Forty years in, the principles haven’t changed: a long-term view, patient capital, alignment before returns, focus on the people, keep it simple and do big things.
